How to start a fire without matches

| Updated Jun 20, 2023

We RVers spend a lot of time outdoors. And one skill we all should have is the ability to start a fire without machos.

Recently, at a winter campout we did in Michigan's snowy Upper Peninsula, Roadtreking regular Kiki Dunigan did a demonstration in how easy it is to start a fire with a magnesium striker, an inexpensive but  very handy piece of survival gear that belongs in ever RVer's emergency pack.

Occupationally, Kiki is a naturalist with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. She loves the woods and wilds and has been a part of our various Roadtreking gatherings group for the past several years. She's also a regular on our Facebook Group.

Here's a demonstration on her showing our group how its done.
