What We’re Thankful For This Year
As the seasons change and frost starts creeping up the windows again, Jennifer and I have been doing what we always do this time of year. We look back. We take a breath. We remember the miles, the moments, and the little mercies tucked into each trip.
And as always, the first thing we’re thankful for is God’s steady hand over all of it.
From safe travels to good health to the sheer privilege of waking up every morning able to explore more of His creation, we’ve felt blessed far beyond what we deserve. There were sunrises this year that felt like they were painted just for us. Quiet backroads where the noise of the world just… faded. Places so stunningly peaceful that both of us stopped talking mid-sentence and just whispered… wow.
Thankful to Keep Traveling
We’re also incredibly grateful for the simple ability to keep traveling. Because let’s be honest, the world feels pretty angry these days. Everywhere you turn, someone’s worked up about something. In the media, it’s all outrage all the time.
But when you’re out there on the road, watching the landscape change and meeting folks face to face, all those differences shrink. People smile more. Conversations get kinder. You’re reminded that most folks are good folks, no matter where they’re from.
And nature has a way of smoothing out your rough edges. You breathe deeper. You sleep sounder. Your shoulders drop back where they belong. You rebound. You refresh. It’s amazing how much better the world feels after a few nights under a big sky.
Thankful for our Rig
We’re thankful for our new Brinkley fifth wheel, too. It’s been a game-changer for us. Comfortable, well-built, thoughtfully designed, and absolutely the best RV we’ve ever owned. It’s become our little sanctuary on wheels, and we love it more with each trip.
But even with all that, the thing we’re most grateful for this year isn’t a rig or a destination. It’s people.
Thankful for the people
Our three rallies, Nashville, Northern Michigan, and the Texas Hill Country, reminded us that RVing is never just about travel. It’s about connection. It’s about community. We watched strangers pull up and turn into friends faster than we could set out the camp chairs. We saw folks step out of their rigs to lend a tool, guide a neighbor through a tight back in, or simply say Glad you made it. We shared songs and s’mores and stories that stuck with us long after the campfires died down.
That togetherness, that warmth, that willingness to look out for each other, that’s what Jennifer and I treasure most.
As we look back on the year, we’re grateful for the beauty we’ve seen, the roads we’ve traveled, and the RVs that carried us through it all. But we’re especially thankful for the people who shared those moments with us.
And if you’ve been following our blog and wondering what this community thing is all about, we’d love for you to check it out. We’ve built a private, ad-free space where RVers connect, share real stories, and become part of something bigger. It’s been one of the greatest blessings of our year.
