Roadtreking is all about the small RV lifestyle of adventure and exploration and with co-host Yan Seiner, I am happy to announce that our next Roadtreking Gathering is now ready for reservations for the week of June 20-24 in the beautiful Smoky Mountains National Park.
We will spend five days in this beautiful area, staying just four miles outside the park boundary in the Flaming Arrow Campground in Whittier, NC. Days will be spent exploring the park, with guided photo hikes led by top photographers. We'll be concentrating on landscape, wildlife and astro photography and we'll have experts like Laura Robinson and Jess Martyka to teach us how to make better photos. We'll also have an award-winning professional local photographer who will take us to many of the best spots in the Smokies.
At camp, we'll all be parked together in one area of the campground and each unit will have electric and water hookups. Many sites have sewer hookups, too.
We'll have training seminars at the campground and a pot luck dinner or two. A group barbecue dinner on us will also be available one night.
The wildlife in the park that we'll try to see and photograph include, deer, bear and elk.
Our photo hikes will take us to spectacular mountaintop visits for sunrise and sunset shots, parts of the fabled Appalachian Trail, waterfalls, the Oconaluftee River, Clingman's Dome and other top attractions
Nantahela Gorge whitewater rafting and mountain biking is also available for those who want to try their hands at those activities, while other may want to try trout fishing or visit the busy tourist towns like nearby Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge at the northern end of the park.
Last year, the one complaint we heard about our four-day Beartooth Mountains Photo Safari in Montana was that it ended too soon. Yan and I are excited to say we've been able to set aside five full days for this event.
There's only one down side to this: We have to limit it to just 30 RVs. So it's first come, first served. This is a busy time in the area and we were lucky to get those 30 spaces. But it is a beautiful time of the year. There will still be spring flowers and the foliage will be new and that beautiful early season green.
Cost for four nights and five days (June 20-24) is just $240 per unit.
To reserve your space, go to our Roadtreking Eventbrite reservation page at: roadtreking.com/smokiestrip
You'll be able to choose your spot right from the Eventbrite page.
This is the first of a whole series of Roadtreking gathering that we will be holding around the country. Among other place we plan Roadtreking gatherings this year are Oregon in August, Northern Ontario, Canada in September, and the Porcupine Mountains in Michigan in October . We'll be releasing details on these other trips soon.
We hope to see you at one more more of these events this year
