In this edition of our How We Roll in our RV video reports, we answer reader questions about how Jennifer has set up an area for makeup and beauty preparation in our new Roadtrek CS Adventurous XL and Mike has installed some specialized electronics.
Specifically, Jennifer shows a new magnifying mirror she has had installed. The one we have is the DecoBros eight inch swivel two-sided mirror with a wall mount that we have installed in the bathroom. It offers a 7X magnifying view on one side. We bought ours for around $40 at Bed, Bath & Beyond. But I found the same one for $26.87 on Amazon.
Mike shows off his Windshield Witness dash cam, the way he installed his Kenwood dual bander 144/440 MHz TM-V71A amateur radio transceiver and how he has equipped his RV with a Wilson Sleek 4g cell phone booster. He also shows how he has mounted some external antennas for the radio and booster – one for the cell booster and a Larsen dual band through-the-glass antenna for the ham radio.

Mike,
When the Kenwood was hooked up, did the negative wire go directly to the negative pole of the battery or was it attached to the chassis? It’s hard to tell with the photo. The latest QST (the “official” ham radio magazine) strongly recommends that the negative wire be attached to the chassis in order to not bypass vital electronics that monitor use and act as a safety valve in case of overload.

Mike and Jennifer, great video. My two favorite subjects … makeup and technology. Jennifer, I would love to see more photos of the bathroom in your new Roaktrek. Have you showered in yours? I have told my husband that after two years of owning our Class B I am going to use the shower on our upcoming trip to Yellowstone. Any hints?
