By popular demand, we announce the publication of the latest in our library of RV travel guides – a 7-Day Adventure Guide to Coastal Maine.

With its dramatic rocky coastline, enchanting fishing towns, and windswept sandy beaches, Coastal Maine is a destination that should be on every RVers’ bucket list. 

We call these guides “7 days,” but they really are seven stops. They’re meant to be experienced at your own pace, a couple of days at one stop, a week at another, however long you want.

Here’s a brief preview:

Day 1: Kennebunkport – Unveiling Coastal Charm

As the sun kisses the horizon, welcome the day in Kennebunkport, where time seems to slow, and the coastal charm envelops you like a warm embrace.

• Hike along the rugged trails, unveiling secret coves and hidden gems.
• Explore the quaint streets, where history whispers from every corner.
• Savor delectable local flavors at seaside eateries.

Day 2: Portland/Freeport – Where History Meets the Sea

Venture onwards to Portland and Freeport, towns where the echoes of shipbuilders' past still resonate. Here, time flows in tandem with the ebb and flow of the tides, and every cobblestone street carries a tale of maritime legacy.

• Stroll through the historic district, where architectural marvels stand frozen in time.
• Relish in the freshest seafood delicacies at local waterfront restaurants.
• As you leave the Freeport area, stop in Bath and discover the artistry of shipbuilding at the Maine Maritime Museum.

Day 3: Boothbay Harbor – Nature's Canvas Unfolds

Boothbay Harbor, a haven nestled between rolling hills and the azure embrace of the ocean, is where nature unveils its masterpiece. Set up camp amidst this scenic splendor, where each sunrise paints a new portrait of beauty.

Day 4: Camden – Art, history, and seafaring culture

Located on Penobscot Bay, in Maine’s MidCoast region. Camden is a stunning seaside town with a vibrant artist community. The High Street Historic District features 19th-century homes and Camden Public Library, with its landscaped amphitheater. The restored Camden Opera House stages music, film, and dance. Trails line the slopes at Camden Hills State Park, with views of Camden Harbor and the bay from Mount Battie. Curtis Island, with its 1830s lighthouse, is in the harbor.

Day 5: Prospect – Small town Maine at its best

Prospect, population 698, is nestled on the west bank of the Penobscot River and welcomes you with open arms and is the perfect place to stroll charming streets and experience walking paths through the heart of Maine’s “Down East” country. The town offers excellent views of the Prospect Harbor Lighthouse, lobster boats and other vessels, and there is so much to do in the surrounding countryside.

Day 6 – Bar Harbor – Gateway to Acadia 

Bar Harbor, the threshold to Acadia National Park, beckons with untamed wilderness and coastal cliffs that defy imagination.
