I’ve written a LOT of articles about bugs you encounter while enjoying the RV lifestyle.
So, I figured it’d be helpful to do a “round-up” post that works as a nifty table of contents of all of the articles that help you deal with bugs.
I’ll give a quick excerpt of each article and then link to the whole article if you’d like to read more. I cover everything from the best “bug off” shopping list to removing bug splatter from your RV to tips on how to avoid bites and infestations.
We’re going to start off with the shopping list, then mosquitos, then ticks, then work our way down to ants and roaches. Plus, a helpful video on bug splatter in between.
I try to appreciate all of nature’s creatures but, boy, do bugs bug me! While I respect bees, ants, and other insects, I have no mercy for mosquitos, no-see-ums, and ticks.
I do everything I can to keep them away from us and our dog but am also prepared for when they manage to bite us.
So, this list includes everything from screen tents to repellents to bite treatments to give you a full line of defense… and offense… against bugs!…
While outdoor adventures can help us get away from it all, one thing we cannot always escape is pesky mosquitos and other biting bugs. Not only can mosquito bites itch, but they can also lead to the transmission of diseases.
While not all biting bugs give you dangerous diseases, there are some that can pass on unwanted illnesses. Things like West Nile Virus, Dengue Fever, and Zika Virus can make some people very ill.
Using bug repellent devices and products can keep you from getting bitten. They also serve a dual purpose which is: disease control…
For many, the simple solution to mosquitoes is to douse themselves with chemicals, but using bug spray is far from the best way to repel insects.
For the rest of us, these 7 tips will minimize the annoyance of insects without the use of pesticides like DEET…
While bug spray is good when you’re on the trail, it’s nice to have an alternative when relaxing on-site. And one of those great alternatives is bug nets. They offer excellent bug protection without any of the potentially harmful chemicals!
There are many options to choose from when searching for a high-quality mosquito net. So, to narrow it down, I outline what to look for in the best mosquito net. Then, I list my picks for the best bug net on the market.
Now, mind you, these bug nets are mainly for outdoor camping or lounging in hammocks. For RVers who want a bug-free lounge area, I recommend the next resource…
Camping is an amazing way to spend time in the great outdoors. Unfortunately, there is something else that likes to spend time with you outdoors: insects. A great way to help stave off these annoying pests is to invest in a good screen tent.
Here are our top picks for the best screen rooms that protect you from the sun and bug bites!…

If there is one thing that can bug you (pun intended!) in your RV, it’s ants! Ants can be incredibly annoying because where there is one, there are usually hundreds.
You might walk into your kitchen to find just a few exploring your countertop. Or, you might wake up to a full-blown infestation!
Recently, we had two different ant-related inquiries in our RV Lifestyle Facebook group. Our community replied with some of the best way to keep ants out and how to get rid of them…
We’ve all heard about how to deal with mosquitos, but have you heard about palmetto bugs? These little buggers cause big problems in certain parts of the country.
A palmetto bug is just a fancy name for a cockroach. The American Cockroach, to be exact. And as cockroaches, they can be extremely difficult to get ride of once they invade you’re RV…
Have you heard the horror stories of bugs in the UP? The truth is there there are a lot of bugs in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, especially in late spring and early Summer (May-June)!
But the bugs that – forgive me – bug me the most are biting black and stable flies.
And that’s what we’re concentrating this post about…
