Top Locations for Renting Out RVs

| Updated Jan 17, 2024

When you decide on renting out your RV, one of the biggest factors in finding success will be location, location, location.

Just like with real estate, if you’re close to popular places then you can charge a premium to rent out your rig, and you’ll be sure to always have the option to rent it if you’d like.

Here are some of the best places for Renting Out RVs Include:

  1. Nearby National Parks

Being within an hour or two of a National Park is a great place to live if you want to rent out your RV.  You get a mix of families are going on vacations to see the parks with their kids, and older folks are looking to cross them off their bucket lists. Also, who doesn’t love exploring the National Park System?

One example is Bozeman, Montana. Bozeman is about two hours from Yellowstone National Park, four hours from Grand Teton National Park, and five hours from Glacier National Park. Plus, there is an airport in the city for renters to fly into/out. In short, Bozeman is extremely central to a lot of potential RV renters looking for a National Parks vacation.

  1. Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas is another great spot to rent out your RV.

There are a lot of flights and travelers coming in and Vegas offers close proximity to scenic locations such as Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park as well as the Grand Canyon National Park. It’s only about three hours drive from Vegas to Zion which is a hop, skip, and a jump as far as RVing is concerned.

  1. Portland, Maine and Boston, Massachusetts

Offering easy access to Vermont, New Hampshire’s White Mountains, and Acadia National Park in Maine, renting out your RV is a no-brainer if you’re living in Portland, Maine or Boston. (Renters will also come in for a week trip to Cape Cod or a long weekend getaway to the Berkshires.)

  1. Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Shenandoah National Park and several National Forests sit within driving distance of Virginia and DC. These make for great getaways for locals and a good starting point for week-long family vacation trips for those looking to explore the East Coast.

  1. Sporting Events

Living close to where popular sporting events are held is also a great plus when you’re looking to rent out your RV. Major sporting events mean lots of people coming in and lots of potential renters. It can also mean lots of booze and partying so make sure that you vet your renters and set a high deductible for potential damages. Here are some popular sporting events that have a great potential for renting your RV:

    • Horse Racetracks

Oh my, do people enjoy going to horse races. Whether it’s a one-time thing or an annual pilgrimage, horse races are a boon to RV renters. This means if you live around Louisville, Kentucky for the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs, near Baltimore, Maryland for the Preakness at Pimlico Race Course, or close to any of the many other race tracks across the country, then you can be sure to rent out your RV during track season.

    • NASCAR Races

Similar to horse racing, NASCAR or other car racing events can mean lots of people coming to your area. Let your renters experience the infield at the Daytona 500, Watkins Glen, or Sonoma. When hotels jack up rates because of the influx of people, many of them turn to RVs and campgrounds. Being in close proximity to any speedways or raceways can mean lots of rentals for you.

    • NFL and College Football Games

NFL and college football games are also an opportunity for RV rentals. People will come in for games at their alma mater or to see their favorite NFL team in a playoff game. For them, getting an RV that they can come back to as a home base is a great experience for the game. Like we mentioned above though, this is definitely a place where booze is involved so make sure you set a high deductible for any potential damage to your RV.

  1. Amusement Parks

In the theme of family vacations, being nearby amusement parks is another great place to rent your RV. Amusement parks are expensive so when planning a family vacation, many people will opt to grab an RV rather than a more expensive hotel. Then they also have a place to cook food and save some money instead of eating out for each meal. Here are just a few of the more popular parks:

    • Orlando, Florida

With Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld all close by it’s easy to see why Orlando is a family vacation mecca and would be a great place to rent out your RV. (Check out our Disney World video below!)

    • Anaheim, California

Just like with Disney World, Disneyland is a place that families will flock to for vacations. That means lots of potential bookings and RV renters.

Between Hersheypark, Hershey Gardens, Hersheypark Stadium, and Giant Center all located in Hershey, Pennsylvania – renting out an RV nearby is an easy bet to have your RV start paying for itself.
