Honey Pecan BBQ Sauce

Making your own BBQ sauce takes just a few steps and about 10 minutes time but rewards you with a special slathering of goodness to compliment many grilled entrees.

Ingredients

6 oz.                tomato paste

14.5 oz            canned diced tomatoes

1 1/2 cups        water

1 cup                 ground pecans

1/2 cup             brown sugar

1/4 cup             white vinegar

1/4 cup             honey

1 tbsp.               lemon juice

1/2 tsp              dry mustard

1/2 tsp              garlic powder

1/2 tsp              ginger powder

1/2 tsp              onion powder

pinch                cayenne powder

pinch                sea salt

Directions

  1. Stir all ingredients together in a medium/large saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Lower heat to simmer.  Continue stirring for 5-10 minutes.
  3. Slather BBQ sauce on your cooked poultry, meat, pork or other grilled foods.
  4. Store leftovers in an airtight jar in the refrigerator and enjoy over the next 5 days.
