Fear not, however, because there’s a good option out there: Battle Born Batteries has just released its new heat-integrated 100Ah 12V battery, the BB10012H. It’s exactly the kind of RV battery we’d look for when camping in the cold and snow during our annual winter campout at Tahquamenon Falls State Park in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula (Be sure to check our Upper Peninsula Travel Guide in the RV Lifestyle store.)
Heated Lithium Batteries
Battle Born Batteries – the consumer-facing brand of Dragonfly Energy – says it has worked hard to integrate a heated solution to its flagship model, the BB10012.
That means users can go on cold weather camping adventures without experiencing that dreaded battery anxiety I mentioned earlier.
“Our team has worked hard to find solutions for users to travel to their desired destinations even in cold temperatures without any battery anxiety,” the company said in a release. “Our technology incorporates an internal heating system into the temperature charge and discharge restrictions for the Battery Management System, or BMS. The heating element is easy to use and enabled with a switch in order to prevent accidental usage.”

An RV battery for sub-freezing temperatures
Further, officials from Battle Born Batteries say the batteries are considered to be the pinnacle of quality and safety “at an unbeatable price point.”
“BB10012H’s are built to last 10 to 15 years and are backed by the company’s 10-year warranty,” the company said.
Technically speaking, Battle Born’s LiFePO4 technology packs double the power in the same physical space as a lead-acid battery.
Here’s a video with Battleborn’s COO Sean Nichols and CEO Denis Phares explaining the technical details on these heated lithium batteries work
Along with the rest of the company’s battery lineup, the 12-volt, 100-amp-hour deep-cycle LiFePO4 battery is capable of being discharged to 100 percent of its rated capacity every time. It can also be charged five times faster than the standard lead-acid battery.
Battle Born’s BB10012H battery has the capability to be stored in sub-freezing temperatures; the battery just needs to be charged to at least 50 percent and have the heater component disabled.
