The Top 5 Camping Apps Every RVer Should Have

| Updated Jun 20, 2023

One of the biggest challenges to RV travel is finding places to camp.

In the video below, we show you five camping apps that every RVer needs to have.

Jennifer and I are on the road all the time. And we never have problems finding places to stay. That’s because we have our smartphones and tablets loaded with five camping apps that always helps us find just the right campsite each day.

Are you ready? Here are our five top camping apps we think every RVer needs to have.

Number 1: The Allstays Camp and RV App. This is hands down the best of the best – the ultimate camping app that lets you find Campgrounds, RV Parks, places to boondock, even places where you can overnight for free, like Walmarts and casinos.  Plus it has lots of related services you can access like rest areas, truck stops with dumping stations and more. It has maps, finds campsites nearby and even where to spot wildlife. It’s $9.95 for iOS and Android.

Since we got the AllStays app, Jennifer and I upgraded to AllStays Pro which is now the major go-to site we use for finding places to stay that really stand out, especially out of the way boondocking spots and free places to stay. Since Jennifer and I discovered AllStays Pro, the browser-based subscription site, we rely on it almost exclusively in our RV travels.

Adam, the owner of AllStays, has generously offered 10% off the AllStays Pro subscription if you use this link and the discount code RVPODCAST when you signup.

Number 2 – The Oh, Ranger! app puts a guide to national, state, and local parks right in your hand. The app provides information about national forests, wildlife refuges, and lots more. Enter your current location and the app gets you headed in the right direction. Oh, Ranger also allows you to search for outdoor activities, like hiking or fishing. The app is free for iOS and Android.

Number 3 – The Camp Finder app has information about 19,000 private and public campgrounds, RV parks, and RV resources across the U.S. You can quickly find rates, see photos and read reviews, along with details about amenities like WiFi and RV hookups. The app is $3.99 for iOS and $2.99 for Android.

Number 4RV Parks & Campgrounds delivers information about more than 40,000 RV parks, campgrounds, rest areas, and Walmart’s that welcome overnight stays.  Commercial RV parks are sorted by rating. Enable the app to see your current location and it will show you everything that’s nearby. The app is free for iOS and Android.

Number 5 – The AllTrails App: This is the app to find the hiking trails you want to expore. It has maps of more than 50,000 trails across the US including reviews and photos so you can find the one nearest your campsite. You get driving directions and can usually find places to boondock right near the trails. Free for iOS and Android

So there you go. That’s how we find great places to camp and explore. Look in the description betlow for links to the apps we mentioned.
