The secret for getting your mail on the road

| Updated Jun 20, 2023

Do you worry about important mail piling up at the post office or your sticks and bricks home?

Until recently – like many RVers – when we were away from our home on extended RV trips, we had our mail held for our return at the post office.

But here’s the rub: The US post office will only hold mail for a maximum of 30 days. You must assign a starting and ending date to have mail held.

And on many of our RV trips we aren’t sure when we’ll be back. And, many times, we want to be away for more than 30 days. Yet, we also need access to that mail. While we pay most of our bills online, over long period of time there will be some bills that would go unpaid. And there are usually a couple checks that we need to deposit, too.

But those problems are now in the past. Now we can stay away as long as we want and still get our mail. Now we use a mail forwarder and in this video, we’re going to show you how using a mail forwarding service can let you get your mail anytime, from anywhere. The video talks about cost and how exactly a mail forwarding service works.

Dakota Post is the forwarding service we use. But there are many others out there to choose from. Feel free to add your comments and suggestions below.
