Sick of crowded campgrounds? Try this!

| Updated Mar 28, 2019

Harvest Hosts is the RV Lifestyles best-kept secret, a membership site that offers free overnight camping at more than 700 farms, wineries, orchards and attractions across North America. How does it work? Follow this three-stop tour of Harvest Host sites to learn more.

We put together this video to show how easy it is to find great overnight spots.

The key is the Harvest Hosts App on your smartphone or tablet. Jennifer and I prefer the tablet because of its larger screen. We use the app to bring up a map of where we in. Harvest Hosts locations are shown and you can zoom in or out to see exactly which ones are near your route.

We read the reviews, look at the photos and if it sounds like a place where we'd want to stay, we call them up and ask if they have room. Most overnight camping is without hookups, so you need to be fully self contained. But a growing number of sites are also offering electric sites, so you may be surprised. Be sure to tell them if you have pets.

There is no charge for staying at a Harvest Hosts location, though it is expected that you will support the hosts by buying produce, a bottle of wine or paying an admission fee to the attraction if one is charged.

We've found Harvest Hosts sites to be absolute highlights of our travel and they are the first place we now look when needing an overnight stop.At each stop, we've gotten to know the farmers, ranchers or owners a little bit. We've heard their stories, learned about their lifestyle and always been warmly welcomed and treated to true hospitality.

You can save 15% off a Harvest Host Memberships by going to https://rvlifestyle.com/hh and using the coupon code RVLS.

See you out there!
