Warm Weather? On the road again

| Updated Feb 21, 2020

Jennifer and I are back on the road looking for warm weather on another long trip – 3 months this time around!

But boy, is it cold out!

We were in Arizona two weeks ago and it dropped down to 28 degrees one night in the desert. We feel like we're bringing the cold weather. I had hoped to de-winterize this weekend but it looks like this cold snap is even dropping temps below freezing south of Atlanta.

We overnighted last night at one of our favorite spots – the Kentucky Horse Park near Lexington. Woke up this morning to bright sunshine but 18 degrees. Bo loves it. I didn't bring a winter coat so I was shivering in a sweatshirt as we did our morning walk.

But this massive campground is pretty much empty. I see only three others as I look around.

Despite the cold outside, we were snug and warm inside. In fact, I had to turn the heater down in the middle of the night.

Still No Warm Weather

Without the sliding step working, that's a 24 inch stretch to get into the RV!

The trip has been complicated a bit because the automatic sliding step under our front door is not working. I took the RV into Mercedes Benz service this week. The step worked fine up through then. I'm thinking something happened at the dealer that caused it to break. But, of course, I didn't discover it until we were home and it was time to leave.

Jen measured how high it is to enter through that door without the sliding step – 24 inches. No problem for Bo. For us… it's a bit of a stretch. Good for building core and leg strength.

I'm hoping to find an RV repair shop somewhere on our route that might be able to fix it.

Where is that Warm Weather?

This first leg of our trip has us meandering south from chilly Michigan back down to the Atlantic Coast of Florida, into the Everglades and Key West. Then all the way over to the southwestern portion of the US in Arizona and New Mexico!

We’re doing research for more of our 7-Day RV Adventure guides – look for the Atlantic Coast and Florida Keys editions coming out in the next month or two! Our Florida Guide to the Gulf Coast can be found at https://shop.rvlifestyle.com/pages/florida-gulf-coast-travel-guide

We look forward to meeting our Florida followers and snowbird friends wintering down there!

We plan other meetups as we travel about Florida and will post them once details are set.

Hi my husband and I are going to take our motorhome down to Palm Springs. We are thinking about taking our dogs this time. Little Poms, Harley and Miley. We always leave them at the kennel. It gets expensive. They do bark but not at night. We try to keep the barking down but we are not sure if they bark a lot when we leave to go for groceries etc. What should we do?We want to start taking them where ever we go.
