Announcing Roadtreking’s Tobermory Expedition, Sept. 5-9, 2016

Yan Seiner and Jennifer and I are happy to invite you to join us for yet another great Roadtreking Gathering – this one Sept. 5-9, 2016 in one of the most beautiful settings in the Great Lakes: Tobermory in northern Ontario, Canada View Map.

This awesome five day adventure takes place at the northern tip of the Bruce Peninsula between Georgian Bay and the main basin of Lake Huron. It is known for its crystal clear waters and spectacular wilderness scenery.

Because of the amazing success of out other gatherings – The Smoky Mountains in June and Michigan’s Porcupine Mountains in October – which sold out very fast, we’re going to try something a bit different this time to make it as fair as possible.

We only have 40 spots available for this gathering. No more.

So here’s what we came up to give everyone an even chance:

We will take names for a week, allowing you to check your schedules, make plans, talk to your friends, spouses, dogs and cats, and sign up.

Then we put all the names in a hat, and pick names.  Then we will notify the lucky few that they can buy a ticket.

This way everyone gets a chance – the last event sold out in three hours!  So register now!.

Oh and please sign up only once.  Please.

The event will cost CAD$255 per rig plus 13% HST.

You get five days in the beauty of Canada.  Tobermory is beautiful, unspoiled, and a gem.

We will have a boat excursion to Flowerpot Island followed by a hike around the island.  Depending on interest, we may have glass bottom boat cruises to the local wrecks.  For divers there are guided dives to local Lake Huron wrecks.

We will have guided hikes to the Grotto, an incredible natural formation and along the Bruce trail and the Lake Huron and Georgian Bay shorelines.

For more refined pleasures, the town of Tobermory has terrific restaurants with wonderful food.

The campground has no hookups.  Water and bathrooms are available.  Row 1 is along Cypress Lake, a shallow inland lake.  Rows 2 and 3 are further back.

  1. You’re right, Tobermory is a gem. I’ve been up a few times as my grandparents live to the south in Wiarton. I have to recommend kayaking too. You can kayak right over top of the ship wrecks. It’s quite amazing. Enjoy everyone who goes!

  2. Pristine , cold, blue water, a Canadian jewel. Had a fanatical urge to sign on but then noticed the no hookup option and we are not sure we want to test our neandethal camping capabilities in the presents of career road trekkers. In lieu of signing up for full duration we may do a friendly driveby , honkhonk, wave

  3. Did I miss something? I just saw this expedition announcement today, April 25th in the Roadtreking newsletter, but the registration is already closed??
Mike, if you’re reading this, I would love to be included if there is still room!! 🙂

    Sounds like a great trip!
