If you can get out, fall is a fabulous time to camp! 

However, as many of you are I’m sure aware of, the surge in RVing has not slowed these past few months and it is harder than ever to find a site at a traditional campground.

Because of this, one of the things we’ve heard people asking lately is: 

“What campground alternatives are out there if all the traditional campgrounds are full?”

Well, Harvest Hosts is a great service we've used the last few years that fills that exact need. 

So we just released a new Harvest Hosts Review Video that shows just how diverse and how much fun it is to camp at a Harvest Host location.

Harvest Hosts is a membership service where you can stay the night at interesting and usually off-the-beaten-path local businesses such as wineries, farms, museums, breweries, and golf courses! 

Harvest Hosts has over 1400 of these locations to explore between the US and Canada!

You'll usually spend the night in the businesses' parking lot or field. Some are really scenic spots. We’re talking dry camping here. These are not campgrounds. So except for a few spots, Harvest Hosts locations do not have electrical, water or sewer hookups.

Using generators is okay at most spots. But always ask first and keep them down at night if there are people around.

But it's free to stay at all of these interesting locations once you're a member! (although it is recommended to stop in at the business you're staying at).

As you can see in the Harvest Hosts Review Video, Jennifer and I have used Harvest Hosts to visit a number of great spots! 

Everything from an alligator farm in Mississippi! (That's right. A real alligator farm, where gators are raised from hatchlings all the way up to 15 footers.)

To an alpaca farm in New Mexico where Bo got to meet some new farm friends!

All the way to a winery in the heart of New York’s Finger Lakes.

We were the only RV there!

For those of you that haven’t checked out Harvest Hosts, we’d highly recommend it, especially as a “quick overnight stop” alternative to a Walmart or Cracker Barrel or if traditional campgrounds are full. 

They now have over 1400 hosts throughout the US and Canada going from as far north as Alaska to as far south as Baja California!

And they're adding new Hosts every day.

In fact, they've added 102 new Hosts across the country since mid-July!

On the map below, the red pins are wineries, the purple pins are farms, the brown pins are breweries, the blue pins are museums, and the green pins are golf courses (the upgraded Harvest Hosts membership includes golf courses and is slightly more expensive). 

As I mentioned above, the best part about Harvest Hosts is that members get to stay at all of these unique locations completely free!  

(It is recommended that you patronage the businesses you are staying at but we usually were going to pick up some food or wine anyways!)  

For us, it’s a no-brainer.

Even using it twice per year compared to one night at a typical campground ($30-50/night) it pays for itself and makes for a truly unique experience to make lasting memories and new friends.
